Why moving water sports kit is difficult

– Taxis and private cars often refuse: cabin space is limited and a hard board over nine feet will not fit. Even a large inflatable board bag may not go in the boot, so refusals are common.
– The parking nightmare: even driving, spaces near popular beaches fill early at weekends and queueing can take over an hour. You end up in a distant car park, carrying heavy kit in full sun, worn out before you reach the water.

Q1: Will the driver carry my kayak onto the beach?

Q2: Which vehicle for a large hard paddleboard?

Q3: Can I inflate the board first and then load it?

Anything beyond the drop-off point — across sand, into a shop, up to a flat — is extra and has to be agreed before you set off.
Which vehicle takes a hard paddleboard?
A hard board will not usually go in a van; take a 5.5-tonne truck. Its body is about 366–457 × 183 × 198 cm (12–15 × 6 × 6.5 ft) with a 1,000–1,300 kg limit, from HK$135.
Hard boards generally run 9 to 12 feet; treat this as a guide and check your own model.

Can I inflate a board before the journey?
Better not. An inflated board is bulky enough to fill the cabin, and can force an upgrade you did not need.
