As more Hong Kongers welcome pets into their homes, GoGoX has seen a steady rise in demand for pet delivery service. Last year, the number of pet trips made via our platform reached 100,000. According to the Census and Statistics Department, there are over 241,900 pet-owning households in the city, with each spending thousands of Hong Kong dollars monthly on pet care. By utilizing van-based vehicles with more spacious interiors, GoGoX delivers a more comfortable ride for pets.
Real-life pet delivery stories that shaped the service
GoGoX takes great pride in tailoring its delivery experience for pets and their owners. Over the years, it has encountered some truly memorable—and at times surprising—pet delivery situations. These moments have directly contributed to service refinements, helping ensure safer and smoother journeys.
Story 1: Who picks up the dog after a breakup?
In one case, a customer scheduled a ride to send their shared dog to an ex-girlfriend – who refused to accept the pet upon arrival, leaving the driver in an awkward situation. Since then, GoGoX has updated its policy to require the pet owner to accompany the pet during the ride itself, ensuring someone familiar is with the pet throughout the journey, reducing the risk of abandonment and ensuring accountability.
Story 2: The snake that went missing
A pet snake, improperly packed, escaped during a ride and hid beneath the vehicle seat. It wasn’t until the customer had left that they realised the snake was missing, prompting an urgent call to the driver. This incident led GoGoX to implement stricter guidelines around proper containment for all pets prior to delivery.
“These stories might seem funny now, but each one has helped us upgrade our safety protocols,” said Ming Tse, Director of Platform at GoGoX. We also launched our Pet-Friendly Driver Programme to ensure our drivers are trained to handle pets with care and sensitivity – making every ride calm, safe, and pet friendly.
Expanding purpose: GoGoX partners with Rise Wise Foundation to support therapy dog delivery
In a move that extends its pet delivery mission beyond individual households, GoGoX is partnering with local charity Rise Wise Foundation to support their Animal-Assisted Therapy programme. Over the next year, GoGoX will provide subsidies up to 400 trips, to help certified therapy dogs travel safely to service locations across Hong Kong.
Rise Wise Foundation is dedicated to promoting Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI), serving children with special education needs (SEN) and the elderly. Dogs undergo professional training and certification before officially becoming therapy dogs. Together with their volunteer handlers, they visit schools, care homes, and community centers to offer emotional, educational, and psychological support through interaction and companionship.
Anthea Yung, Founder of Rise Wise Foundation, shared, “Currently, we have around several dozen certified therapy dogs in our team. Each dog must complete a two-stage training process and pass professional assessments to qualify. Through unconditional love and non-judgmental companionship, therapy dogs can have a profoundly positive impact on people in need. We sincerely thank GoGoX for their support, which enables our therapy dogs to reach more schools, care homes, and community centres without logistical barriers. We hope this transportation sponsorship will encourage more therapy dogs to join and serve even more people in need.”
